Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

You do not have to be enrolled in medical coverage through The Christ Hospital Health Network to elect an FSA, however you must ensure that the FSA you elect is compatible with your medical coverage.  With an FSA you can elect to contribute pre-tax dollars to help pay for eligible expenses during the calendar year.   Examples of eligible expenses include your deductible, copays, coinsurance, prescription drugs, dental, and vision expenses for you and your eligible tax dependents.

 How an FSA Works:

  • You must actively elect a new contribution during Annual Enrollment every year; once the election is made, you cannot change your contribution.
  • For the Healthcare FSA and Limited Purpose FSA, your election is frontloaded into your account and available on January 1st. With the Dependent Care FSA, your account balance grows as you make your contributions each pay period.
  • You can only use your account to pay for eligible expenses incurred from January 1st through December 31st; at the end of the year, any money not used is forfeited. You cannot take it with you if you leave or retire.

FSA Plan Administration

The FSA plans are administered through Chard Snyder.  More information regarding your FSA and how to pay for eligible expenses will be mailed to your home address from Chard Snyder. To ease the claim submission process, TCHHN feeds medical, dental, and vision claims data to Chard Snyder. This means you should not have to provide debit card purchase supporting documentation for an expense that was billed through our medical, dental or vision plans.

Please note, you will have the opportunity to seek reimbursement for eligible expenses incurred through December 31st within 90 days following the end of the plan year. If you not submit your claim expenses within the 90-day window, any remaining funds in your FSA will be forfeited

Effective 10/15/2021 Chard Snyder will no longer accept claim submissions or debit card purchase supporting documentation via email. This change is to help ensure the security of your private personal and health-related data. You can submit claims and debit card purchase documentation via:
